Whey protein was noted to increase lean body weight by 3.3 kilograms in people who used it for nine months and started to do strength training. The critique of this study is the subjects did not undergo resistance training previously. A better study could involve subjects who already had resistance training to truly see only the effect of whey protein. The study did compare whey to carbohydrates and soy protein.
