Fireplace operation. First open the damper. Turn the knob at the top of the fireplace counterclockwise to open the damper. The damper is the door at the top of the fireplace and the bottom of the chimney. It lets smoke out when there’s a fire and the door is open. It keeps cold air out when there’s no fire and the door is closed. #travel
