March 2020 - Since 1993, a single share of Berkshire Hathaway has returned 2380% while a share of SPY for the Standard and Poor's 500 returned 571%. Berkshire Hathaway generates cash from it's multiple insurance companies and invests it well in equities. Lately, it's been investing in airline stocks. It's largest holding currently is Apple. March 2020 - the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 10 percent due to the coronavirus, a respiratory infection that started in China. SPY is an ETF for the Standard and Poor's 500. The price has dropped from 339.08 in February 2020 to 302 on March 5, 2020. The dividend yield is 1.9 percent. However in 2015, the stock had $4 in dividends and the price was near 200 , a similar yield. Schwab US Broad Market ETF SCHB tracks the 2500 largest stocks in the market. It's dropped from 82 to 72 and has a 1.96 percent yield. Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Alphabet account for about 15% of the holdings but it also has small cap stocks. It has exposure to the growth in small cap or mid cap stocks that can become the next Microsoft or Google. #stocks See Post

February 2020 - Virgin Galactic #spce has gone up from a post-ipo low of $7 to $40 by February 20, 2020. It has sold 600 tickets to space for $250,000 each. In 10 years, they may get the cost down to $10,000. Another proposed idea is to cut travel time from Los Angeles to Tokyo to 2-3 hours using space. The current stock market price is considered speculative but there are no laws against speculation in equities. Revenues are minimal but secondary stock offerings at this price can help the company stay afloat. #stocks See Post

February 2020 - LVS Las Vegas Sands has rebounded to $67. Currently, the coronavirus is a concern about cutting travel to Macau. Wynn reported a bad quarter. Private equity company stocks have done very well in the last two years including Blackstone Group BX, Appolo Global Management APO, and Carlyle Group CG. They buy up some of the better small cap and mid cap stocks and take them private leaving the private equity stock as the only way to gain exposure to the profit from these deals. They are also involved in many small cap ventures with potentially large profits.
